Thinking about how my little girl pointed at the car radio, and shook her shoulders in what could only be described as a shoulder shimmy, then pumped her hand when we turned on Michael Franti. Cuteness prevails!

We’ve had quite an adventurous summer! From swimming in the river (as often as we could) to visiting with friends, learning the play the piano, and going on our first trip to Tahoe and camping. You’ve taken your first step (on the sands at Tahoe), said your first words (Mama, Dada, Kitee), and are about to have your first birthday.

Standing up by herself

Guess who can now stand on her own two legs unsupported? Sofaliscious!

Look out world, she’ll soon be walking.

Beach Stroll: The cold wind and bright sun kept it short, but you should have seen the smile at the sea gulls soaring.

Growing Up

Dear Little Sofia,

What an amazing process it is to watch you grow. Each week, it seems you have gained a new capacity. From laying on my belly playing facinated with my belt, playing Patty Cake with Tia Nancy, blowing zurberts on Mommy’s belly.

My favorite time of the morning is sitting on the floor with you playing my guitar, while you stand, holding onto my knee and bounce to the tune of “The Cat Came Back” or smile when I sing “I look both ways when I cross the street… Leeeeeeft, Riiiiiiight”.

Last night, you were too hot trying to fall asleep, so I rocked you in my arms with the fan blowing you your head. Looking down at you in my arms, I was able to get a glimpse of the growth you are going through. Your peaceful sleeping face is beginning to reveal who you are, and expressing what makes you uniquely you. I have to constantly re-evaluate who I think you are, as you change so rapidly.

When I feed you in the morning, I can feel you looking right into me and calling out my highest self, to respect you, nuture you, and honor all that you are, and can become.

Thank you for coming to join our little family. Even Willow is coming to love your drooling wet hugs.

I love you little Sofia,

Papa
